I'm a student at this school at the moment and it has made me and many others feel discouraged and dumb. This school seems to have funding for flat screen TVs, but no type of funding for the classes. The teachers are fantastic, but there is no true inspiration. Every class (including related arts) has worksheets, that then leaves the students/us with only 25 minutes of a "free time", which is lunch. This school had so much potential, but has lost so much of it now. As a student you shouldn't feel dumb, so before coming to this school as new student, review your other options first!

My daughter has a significant hearing loss and has a 504 plan to address her special needs in attaining her education. By providing any of her teachers that do not speak loud the school provides them with a surround system that has a wireless microphone, thi has made such an impact in her hearing everything, she has made the Principle's Honor Roll for the past several years and has aced her 7th grade math SOL and scored a 597 on her 5th grade math SOL. I am so glad that she has the ability to get a true education dispite her disability.

Overall, WMMS is a great school with excellent teachers and a diligent staff. They are very accommodating to my son's special needs.

WMMS is an excellent school. We have been very pleased with the progress our child has made through this school. The teachers are knowledgeable and aimed to help every student. We don't feel like our son gets lost in the crowd like he would in Albemarle. I think a lot of the negativity comes from ignorant parents who don't realize that a lot of a child's education comes from parental involvement. Our child just finished High School (at WMHS) had no problem getting into UVA and we have WMHS to thank!

I really like the way the new principal takes a special interest in all the students.I also have noticed that the halls are much cleaner when I have visited after school. I also like the fact that some of the teachers write the homework assignments via e-mails and what is happening in the classroom.

In my experience two children attending this middle school has been nothing negative. The school is crowded and it has not met the requirements of a growing county. My experience witht the Prinicpal of this school Susan Smith, has been nothing negative. My child has had such a bad education in greene county that we have decided to move.If you are a parent with a child in the William monroe School District i would either move,or send them to a good private school in Charlottesville.ALso United Christian Academy is a good choice if you live in Greene County.

William Monroe Middle School is excellent! I receive constant emails from my child's teacher concerning homework, missing assignments, and upcoming tests and projects.

I am a concerned parent who is appalled to learn that the restrooms in this school are in sad need of repair (ex. sink in the boy's bathroom fell off from the wall when a boy leaned on it.) Also, some of the lab tables in the 7th grade science classrooms are so full of 'pot holes' on the surface, it's amazing how students can write on paper. In addition, the nasty graffiti on the sides of these tables look like it was written when the school opened years ago. Why hasn't the superintendent or the school board checked out the tables, restrooms, and other equipment the teachers and students have to use on a daily basis? Why can't these things be repaired? Why are so many of the parents content to accept such conditions? Is this the best Greene County can do with its tax dollars?

My son recently moved in with us and began attending William Monroe Middle School. We have been very pleased with the curriculum and the education he is receiving. He has been thriving here and the teachers are very attentive to his learning needs.
